Karin Morris, AICP, is the Director of Community Planning at the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the metropolitan planning organization for Greater Philadelphia, where she oversees plans and initiatives around smart growth, community and economic development, climate and environment, energy initiatives, GIS, and data coordination. She received a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan and undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. She has been a Knight Fellow in Community Building at the University of Miami, and a German Marshall Fund Urban and Regional Policy Fellow. She has served on the boards of the American Planning Association Pennsylvania Chapter Southeast Section and the Delaware Valley Smart Growth Alliance. She has been selected to serve on several research panels for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. She also serves as a Practitioner Site Visitor for the Planning Accreditation Board, which accredits all undergraduate and graduate degree programs in urban planning in North America. She has presented at national conferences such as the American Planning Association, New Partners for Smart Growth, and Railvolution. A proud native Clevelander and South Philadelphia resident, she is particularly interested in issues affecting older industrial cities.
