○ The Interim Executive Director's professional background includes business development, Non-Profit engagement, and elected public service. She established: The DRUMBEAT Newspaper, Hanifa’s Kitchen, the Non-Profit Haneef's African Festival and Parade, and Haneef's Bookstore and Mosi Art Gallery. Elected as City Council President, the first woman ever was historic. Shabazz served 3 consecutive terms as the 4th District City Council Member, the largest and most diverse in Wilmington, Delaware.
○ Shabazz also served as President, National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, the largest constituency group of the National League of Cities. Shabazz has worked in the private sector and designed the PAID Program, an intensive 12-week employment training program designed to develop a quality workforce through Life Skills Enhancement, Academic Enrichment, Technical Skills Training, and Case Management leading to placement in livable wage jobs. Formed a pioneering coalition of CBA-trained residents that secured the first of six Community Benefits Agreements in the state. Implemented the first Neighborhood Assistance Act negotiation between a Wilmington company and the Neighborhood House. Shabazz sponsored a Resolution requesting the federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention to investigate the root cause of the gun violence epidemic among African American youth in the City of Wilmington.
