Charles Neer, ASLA, Senior Associate, leads WRT’s Parks and Open Space Practice. Charles’ view of landscape as a productive agent in the shaping of cities, countryside, and culture is informed by 20+ years of experience with urban landscapes, park master planning and design. Charles has served as the project manager for multiple national park projects such as the FDR Park Master Plan in Philadelphia which presents an ecologically resilient, community-supported vision for the future of the park and positions it as a critical piece of civic and public health infrastructure, as well as the 4,000-acre, $125 million The Parklands of Floyds Fork in Louisville, which has become the national model for city-shaping and community building via large-scale green infrastructure, and open space park system planning and implementation. He has also worked on various waterfronts, campus master plans and urban designs throughout the country. His work focuses on the creative fit between a project’s users need and the site’s environmental opportunities that result in equitable and resilient landscapes. He has presented his work at local, national and international conferences.
