Historically, multiple sclerosis (MS) was not thought to have a prodromal phase. However, there is now emerging evidence for a prodromal period in the MS population. A prodrome is an early set of signs or symptoms indicating the onset of a disease before more diagnostically specific or classic signs and symptoms develop. This presentation will highlight the recent advances in identifying and phenotyping the MS prodrome and the relevance of the MS prodrome for the recognition, management and future prevention of MS.
