The use of pharmaceuticals can be challenging given new approvals, insurance concerns, and specific patient profiles. In this lecture, a pharmacist who is also an optometrist will review her personal, current protocols for the use of oral and topical medications in the treatment of common ocular conditions and will compare and contrast novel treatments with established older therapies.

Choose the appropriate topical fluoroquinolone for various ocular pathologies
Choose and correctly dose the proper topical steroids for various ocular pathologies
Choose and correctly does the appropriate oral antibiotic for various ocular pathologies
Choose and correctly dose the appropriate topical or oral glaucoma agent for various primary and secondary glaucomas
Choose and appropriately dose oral antivirals for the treatment of various ocular pathologies
Decide when and where to use newer dry eye treatment modalities vs established therapies
