Brought to you by the National Academy of Opticianry and SECO International.
This course explores lens design from Single Vision, Near Variable Focus Lenses, Lined Multi-focal, Progressive Lens designs, implications of refractive index, lens thinness, and secrets to designing the most optically precise work of art for your eyes. Designing the most optically precise and cosmetically appealing lens shouldn’t be left to common myths and optical roulette.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Identify the differences between various lens material substrates with the same refractive indices
Define the relationship between abbe value and refractive index.
Identify lens attributes for multiple materials related to UV attenuation, thickness, specific gravity, impact resistance, and processing technology.
Calculate lens thickness.
Describe how a frame's shape, size, and boxing measurements affect lens thickness.
Describe using dielectric flash mirrors to enhance a frame and patient's natural tones
