This paper presents the design and operation of a versatile on-state voltage measurement circuit based on a depletion mode MOSFET. A current limiter circuit is used as a voltage blocking stage and combined with a diode-based voltage clipper, which enables arbitrary clipping voltages. The proposed topology is verified through static measurements of the blocking capability, dynamic measurements in a double pulse test and by evaluating its frequency response. This circuit combines a low-complexity setup with high dynamic performance, including a scalable approach to the blocking stage which allows for a customized variation in the maximum blocking voltage.
