Typical implementation of TP PFC uses either SiC or GaN switches for both high side and low side of the fast leg half bridge. This talk will present a new concept of a Totem Pole PFC implementation named Hybrid Totem Pole where SiC is used for the high side switch and GaN is used for the low side switch. This implementation has a better utilization of both the SiC and GaN devices technologies and packages, resulting in improved efficiency, reduced thermal stress and EMI, and simplified gate drive, which are all important features in Server and Telecom applications.
