This presentation considers design tradeoffs for incorporating a virtual inductor within a transformer to eliminate a normally discrete additional inductor. The additional inductor is often needed for certain power electronics applications including soft switching, resonant and bidirectional converters. Presentation content will help designers understand how potential benefits of size reduction can be achieved while also explaining performance risks and cost impacts.
