This study compares thermal foldback and chaining the outputs of PFC controller OTA error amplifiers as methods for achieving parallel operation for multiple discontinuous boost power factor converters. Metrics discussed include closeness of power sharing as a function of line voltage and output power, stability of output voltage as a function of output power and line voltage, as well as efficiency, power factor and THD.
