Waqas Ali received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2013 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical power engineering from Brandenburg Technical University, Cottbus, Germany, in 2017. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Huawei Technologies Nuremberg Research Center. His main research interests include modular multilevel converters, hybrid DC breakers, and solid-state circuit breakers.
