Jack Hannum received his B.S.E degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2021, with honors from the South Carolina Honors College. He is now a Ph.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina, working on naval and aerospace power systems under Dr. Kristen Booth. His main focus is the Digital Twin for Naval Power & Energy project, a $10 million project for the U.S Navy to develop a testbed mimicking a hypothetical DC naval power system, to be used to prototype digital twins. His work involves devising novel methods to route energy in naval power and energy systems, designing high power switching converters and integrating them into larger systems. In addition to physical system design and implementation, Hannum is heavily involved in modeling and simulation, developing digital twin technologies for power and energy systems on projects funded by the U.S Navy Office of Naval Research and NASA.
