We demonstrate the design of a MV DAB with 2 kV input and 800 V output, which is the essential building block of the MV DC charger. The full bridge converter on the primary side of the DAB is designed using a 3.3 kV SiC power module. Compared to 1.7 kV modules or lower, the proposed DAB design can reduce the number of series cells in half. Extensive characterizations have been carried out for the 3.3 kV SiC module to extract key information to guide the electro-thermal co-design of the MV DAB system.
