The paper aims to introduce an innovative Gallium Nitride based application tailored for mild hybrid environment. In particular, intelligent and integrated GaN solutions are becoming more and more popular thanks to the superior switching behavior especially in very high frequency domain. The presentation focuses on the low voltage DC-DC 48-12V converter used to bidirectionally charge the 12V battery. Based on a new innovative package solution, the proposed device main feature is its extremely high level of integration represented by the system in package solution embedding both the controller and the power stage.
