Power conversion design for audio applications presents a unique challenge where the peak electrical load can be several times higher than the RMS power requirement. The design therefore must strike a delicate balance between thermal design, solution size and cost. This presentation will describe in detail the unique challenges and design tradeoffs associated with power supply designs for audio applications when using an LLC resonant converter. Practical considerations will be covered, such as gain curve limitations, impact of parasitics on regulation performance, and tips and tricks for improving transient response and cross regulation will be discussed.
