Today, two-thirds of energy generation is wasted due to efficiency loss. As worldwide consumption of energy moves from primarily fossil fuel based to primarily electrical based it will drive reductions in wasted energy through utilization of renewables and conversion and storage efficiency. Addressing electrical power conversion efficiency becomes ever more important to conserve natural resources and to reduce the ever-increasing demand on energy generation. Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology used in Power Semiconductors provides direct energy savings through increased efficiency when compared to todays standard silicon-based solutions. The increased efficiency also enables up to a 50% smaller application footprint, reducing necessary materials and packaging for products using the technology.
