Current viewing resistors (CVRs) are widely utilized for dynamic characterization due to their claimed bandwidth and minimal impact on commutation loop inductance. While popular, there is a lack of characterization data that proves the frequency response of this type of devices. The work outlined in this paper is a first step in filling this gap, and the SSDN-005 CVR from T&M research is characterized under different combinations of cables, scope input impedances, and feed-through terminators. The response is compared with other measurement techniques to evaluate the overall performance. A SPICE model is provided for the CVR, which is compared with experimental data
