In this digest a Series Resonant Converter (SRC) is evaluated for on board charging applications of electric vehicles (EVs) with wide output voltage range requirements. To satisfy different OEM requirements, wide gain range operation of the DC-DC converter is preferred. Series resonant converters, utilizing delay time control, can be a suitable candidate for high frequency wide gain range operation due to it\'s capability of maintaining soft switching across wide gain range with reduced frequency variation. To evaluate it\'s potential in high frequency applications, in this work, a series resonant converter with 650 V GaN devices is constructed. This prototype converter switches at a nominal frequency of 500 kHz and delivers a rated power of 6.6 kW, achieving 7.3 kW/L power density. The converter\'s performance is verified over an output battery voltage range of 200-350 V, where it achieves greater than 97% efficiency with a peak of 98.5%.
