This paper presents the modulation and control for a two stage Solid State Transformer for use in Hybrid Solid State Transformer. The Hybrid Solid State Transformer (HSST) comprises of a high-power line frequency transformer (LFT) and a fractional power Solid State Transformer (SST) offering the optimum compromise between the controllability of the SST and cost effectiveness and the resiliency of the LFT.
