In this work, several alternatives to the usual copper litz wires are evaluated for wireless charging stations of electric vehicles. Specifically, aluminum litz wires, copper-clad aluminum litz wires and copper tubes are considered as alternatives to copper litz wires due to their potential benefits, as weight and cost savings. In line with the potential benefits, the resistance of the magnetic coupler should not be deteriorated. This aspect is analyzed in this work by means of a resistance model for multilayer cylindrical conductors based on the combination of analytical formulas and finite element simulations.
