Multiphase buck converters are becoming popular in automotive applications, such as high-current ADAS and infotainment systems. Optimal design of the power stage along with the EMI filter to meet a given specification can be challenging. This session will review the benefits and the challenges of designing a multiphase topology, and provide guidelines for the input filter design. Also covered will be an exploration of the non-ideal factors and analyze these effects in both the time and frequency domains. The session will then detail how to optimize the performance and the size of the input filter to meet CISPR25 standards.
