Rosemarie Lajara, MD, FACE, is an endocrinologist at Southern Endocrinology & Diabetes Associates in Plano, Texas. She earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Lajara trained as an endocrinologist at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, where she continued her academic tenure after completing her fellowship. She is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism.
Dr. Lajara is a past president of the Diabetes America Physicians Association and an active member of several scientific advisory boards and professional societies, including the American College of Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
Dr. Lajara’s contributions to her field span basic and clinical research, including the characterization of the insulin-like growth factor 1 gene, as well as trials for many therapies and devices utilized to manage diabetes. She has authored multiple publications in prestigious medical journals, written textbook chapters, and served as editor for several medical journals. Dr. Lajara is actively involved in professional medical education both nationally and internationally, including initiatives from the Endocrine Society, ADA, and the Institute for Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Diseases, in which she has contributed to their curriculum development. She is also a member of the Guidelines Committee for the Endocrine Society and AACE. Dr. Lajara has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her contributions in her field. In recognition of her patient care, she has been named to the National Committee for Quality Assurance Diabetes Physician Recognition Program.
