Sonali Thosani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Endocrine Neoplasia and Hormonal Disorders and the Section Chief of Diabetes at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Thosani is the patient safety quality officer for her department and division of Internal Medicine and is certified in medical quality. Dr. Thosani's clinical interests include hyperglycemia management in the cancer patient population, and checkpoint inhibitor diabetes. She is the medical director of the Glycemic Management Program and has lead a large multidisciplinary team to help reduce inpatient diabetic ketoacidosis, reduce rates of inpatient hyperglycemia, and improve perioperative care coordination of patients with type 1 diabetes. Through her work, Dr. Thosani hopes to improve patient experience, patient safety, enhance quality and align with her institution's mission to become a high reliability organization.
