Dr. Kearns focuses her clinical practice within Endocrinology on disorders of bone and mineral metabolism, and leads the fragility fracture clinic or fracture liaison service at Mayo Clinic to evaluate and treat patients for osteoporosis following a low energy fracture. She is the Chair of the Mayo Quality Review Board, which reviews all quality projects for the Mayo enterprise. She serves as a member of the National Quality Forum which endorses quality measures used nationally by health systems and insurers. She has served as the leader of the Diagnosis and Treatment of Osteoporosis Guideline Workgroup, Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement, developing guidelines for osteoporosis management. Most recently she represented the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist on multinational Secondary Fracture Prevention Initiative Coalition, aimed to coalesce efforts on addressing the large care gap in osteoporosis evaluation and treatment following a low energy fracture.
