Rifka Schulman-Rosenbaum, MD, FACE, FACP is the Director of Inpatient Diabetes at Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center, Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, NY, and Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum received her medical degree from the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, summa cum laude. She trained in internal medicine residency and chief resident at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and with fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum specializes in management of inpatient diabetes and inpatient endocrinology. For over a decade she has run a busy inpatient endocrine service full time, including supervision of a multidisciplinary diabetes team as well as endocrine fellows and other trainees. Under her leadership LIJ Medical Center has maintained certification with the Joint Commission for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes since 2014. Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum participates in or leads numerous hospital committees and workgroups. Her research focuses on areas relating to inpatient diabetes, including SGLT2 inhibitors, hyperglycemia due to COVID-19 and endocrine intervention in the emergency department. She was the recipient of The Salzman Award for Excellence in Quality for Northwell Health in 2019 and Outstanding Teacher Award in 2023. Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum is the Vice Chair for the 2024 AACE annual meeting and has served as the Chair of the AACE Diabetes Disease State Network for 2022-2023. She is the editor of a book entitled “Diabetes Management in Hospitalized Patients: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide.” Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum is also part of an international consensus group to create guidelines on monitoring of patients with antibody-positive pre-stage 3 type 1 diabetes.
