Kenneth K Chen, MD is the current director of Division of Obstetric and Consultative Medicine and the co-director of the Integrated Program for High-Risk Pregnancy at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Dr. Chen completed his medical schooling at the University of Sydney in Australia, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine then a fellowship in Endocrinology as well as a clinical fellowship in Obstetric and Consultative Medicine through The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.
Dr. Chen joined the staff at Women and Infants Hospital in 2012, rapidly rising through the ranks, where he now serves as the President of the Medical Staff, co-chair of the Quality Board, and medical director of the Progressive Care Unit of Women and Infants Hospital. He is also the Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Clinical Nutrition for the Care New England Health System. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine & ObGyn at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. He was instrumental in setting up multi-disciplinary clinics in the management of endocrine disorders in pregnancy as well as the management of obesity in pregnancy. He is currently the volume editor of the Maternal Medical Health and Disorders in Pregnancy section of The Global Library of Women's Medicine.
Dr. Chen is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Dr. Chen is also actively involved in medical education at Brown University and has been awarded the prestigious Beckwith Family Award for Outstanding Teaching as well as multiple Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Awards. He is the current President of The International Society of Obstetric Medicine and the co-chair of the Health and Public Policy Committee of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American College of Physicians. He serves on the Clinical Faculty Advisory Committee at the Brown medical school.
