Dr. Anderson is Professor Emerita of Gynecology and Obstetrics and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Anderson has spent much of her career caring for women living with HIV and in developing innovative care models. She founded and directed the Johns Hopkins HIV Women’s Health Program from 1988-2021, with provision of care to over 8000 women. She has served on the USPHS Perinatal HIV Guidelines Panel since its inception in 1999 and the USPHS/CDC Task Force on Prevention and Management of Opportunistic Infections. She is currently co-chair of the CDC/HRSA Advisory Committee of HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases and is a member of the HIV Expert Work Group for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a senior technical advisor with Jhpiego and the founder and past director of the Johns Hopkins Global Women’s Health Fellowship and has worked in numerous countries in sub-Saharan Africa, India, Latin America and the Caribbean focusing on HIV and prevention of cervical cancer.
