Neena Agarwal Xavier, MD, FACE is a Senior Director in Diabetes Global Medical Affairs at Eli Lilly and Company. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt Medical School and is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. After completing her training in Endocrinology, Lipids, and Metabolism at Washington University in St. Louis, she moved to Birmingham, AL and practiced in outpatient endocrinology before accepting a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In this role she also volunteered as the medical supervisor for the Firehouse Shelter Wellness Clinic for which she was awarded the 2018 AACE National Outstanding Service Award for the Promotion of Endocrine Health of an Underserved Population. She was also chosen as a Harvard Macy Medical Education Fellow for professional development in leadership and implementing active learning strategies such as simulation and service-learning into medical curriculum. For these activities, she has been recognized with a nationally competitive Engaged Scholarship Consortium Grant as well as the 2020 Gulf South Summit Teaching Award for Outstanding Faculty Contribution to Service-Learning in Higher Education. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and son, choreographing Indian dances, and traveling to new places.
