Director, Instructional Design

Holly Byrnes, PharmD, BCPS currently serves as the Director of Instructional Design in the Office of Professional Development at ASHP. Her current role responsibilities include leading the organization in planning continuing education activities that meets best practices in education principles, adult learning, instructional design, and instructional strategies, as well as identifying educational needs of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals which may be developed into learning activities, products or programs.
Prior to this, Holly joined ASHP as Director, Scientific Projects in Certification Resources in October 2017. In her previous role, she oversaw the ASHP BPS review and recertification product lines for the Critical Care, Geriatric, Cardiology and Emergency Medicine specialties. Holly expanded her involvement to also include the National Pharmacy Preceptors Conference, COVID-19 ASHP Advantage programming and podcasts, and future programs focused on student leadership development. Prior to joining ASHP, Holly practiced in academia for 10 years focused on educating pharmacy students, residents, preceptors and practitioners. Holly is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and is also a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
