The Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education in partnership with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education has developed an evidence-based CPD education toolkit to disseminate best practices in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of CPD interventions. The toolkit, developed through focus groups, eDelphi panels, and the literature highlights three interventions: small group learning, case-based learning, and reflective learning. The workshop will simulate CPD planning to deliver the toolkit content and engage CPD providers in critical reflection about their current CPD practices. The session will be divided into sections of larger group brief didactic periods (such as for the introduction to the toolkit) (10% of session), theory bursts (pre-recorded sessions from key contributors and content experts on toolkit components and evidence) (10% of session). The majority of the session will be interactive, with longer facilitated small group/break out activities (for case-based scenarios) (50% of session), and large group feedback and discussion sessions (30% of session). Through this workshop, participants will be able to recognize practical education interventions to redesign learning approaches to CPD, as well as apply toolkit concepts to deliver equitable and innovative sessions.
