Over one billion hours of YouTube videos are watched every day (10 YouTube Statistics) and 98% of second year medical students report using YouTube as part of their studies (Nomura, 2020). YouTube is recognized for fast paced content that encourages viewers to stay engaged. Clearly, the popularity of video content continues growing through YouTube Shorts and TikTok. What can the medical education community learn from YouTube's success? What are the future trends for video distribution? How can we augment our education to increase its effectiveness for learning and change? During this session we will look at the best practices for YouTube and identify strategies to improve learner engagement with the talking head or recorded session. Each learner will walk away with 5 tips from YouTube experts that we can implement in our own enduring materials to up the stickiness of their video content. We will provide links to free or reasonably priced tools that everyone can use. This session is designed for participants of all experience levels who are exploring new technology driven strategies for educational delivery.
