This workshop will utilize a quick review by polling the audience of a top 10 list of musts and forgets for best practices in writing knowledge and application-based assessment questions. The audience will then actively participate in reviewing example test questions and must select what is wrong with the example based on what part of the question should be revised. Small groups will work on revising example questions to create great questions and share revisions with the larger group. A special focus on how to develop questions that meet the collective needs of the learners, CE administrator, and funder to assess outcomes will be addressed. A summary of take home points will close the session. Additionally, a summary of best practices of question writing including a checklist will be provided to the participants.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze continuing education questions to determine if they meet the learning objective.
Determine if a question performs poorly because of the question stem, distractors or presentation content.
Revise questions to optimize performance on learners’ assessments and meet grant expectations.
