Where Did Adult Learning Theories Go?

Session Description: Using the AMA's Accelerating Change in Medical Education initiative as a foundation, this interactive session will reinforce the importance of integrating adult learning models into professional medical education strategy resulting in the adoption of a learning continuum. The session will include overviews of validated learning and impact models from which participants will be challenged to map their own. Comparisons to the relevance and importance of clinical study models will be discussed. This session will provide key takeaways and hands on experience from which participants can integrate into their practice immediately.

Innovation: Throughout the session, participants will be challenged to map an educational strategy based on customizing adult learning principles into a reporting framework to demonstrate impact. Participants will be divided to represent educational providers and grant supporters. The experience will provide key takeaways in adult learning principles, promoting the evolution of goals based on impact, and the importance of demonstrating progress on the educational journey.
