Mr. Burns, the founder of BSC, serves as a PRINCIPAL | SENIOR FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR at BSC. Mr. Burns’ specialties include Structural Engineering and Building Enclosures/Glazing Systems. He has a unique background including education & teaching, business incubation, business development, technology development, engineering design, and forensic engineering. Since 2011, the BSC family of companies has grown to be nationally recognized under Mr. Burns’ leadership.

Mr. Burns serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on BSC’s Complex & Large Loss Project Team. As a member of this team he is focused on the cause and extent of conditions at structural elements and fenestrations, such as glazing systems, for large and/or complex facilities, including condominium towers, apartment complexes, government facilities, mixed-use properties, educational complexes, and many more. His efforts, combined with that of our structural, mechanical, and electrical experts, comprise the most comprehensive and experienced assessment team available in the forensic engineering market.

Mr. Burns’ forensic experience includes structural design, failure analysis, construction defect, premises safety/injury (including trips and slips), water losses, wind assessments, hail assessments, flooring assessments, foundation performance evaluations (including movement attributed to plumbing leaks), building envelopes, air and water penetration (spray testing), glazed fenestration assessments, and much more. Mr. Burns and BSC staff under his responsible charge routinely perform investigations of commercial, residential, multi-family, high-rise, industrial, and government facilities. Mr. Burns routinely serves as a testifying expert in arbitrations, mediations, trials, as well as depositions.
