Matthew L. Flax is President of Flax & Associates LLC and holds a Master’s in Business Administration, is a Florida Licensed General Contractor, and a Certified Public Accountant. Flax & Associates is a multidisciplinary construction consulting firm specializing in providing risk-based advisory and dispute resolution services to the construction, legal, insurance, real estate development, and engineering industries.

Matt is a construction and accounting professional with years of experience nationally and internationally in construction management, claims, estimating, project controls, scheduling, forensic accounting, and project management. Matt's experience also involves litigation support, contractor negotiation, expert testimony, contractor negotiation, change order review and analysis, etc.

Prior to founding Flax & Associates, Matt was an Assistant Vice President and the Florida Region Area Manager for a global construction consulting firm responsible for all facets of the business and growth in the region. Matt’s insurance claim experience involves water, fire, vehicle impact, wind, concrete overspray, settlement, builder’s risk, and hurricane claims to all different types of properties. Matt’s experience also includesserving as a construction expert on large construction litigation and construction defect disputes as well as an advisor to developers and owners in a construction management and cost audit role.

Prior to that, Matt was employed by CBRE and was responsible for leading the Project Management division in Miami. While at CBRE, Matt was responsible for managing numerous ground-up and large interior build-out projects for both tenants and landlords. Prior to CBRE, Matt was a Director in FTI Consulting’s Construction Solutions group and was responsible for advising clients on construction disputes throughout the United States and Caribbean. While at FTI, Matt also performed project controls/oversight and owner’s representative services on numerous large complex projects.

Matt’s experience in the construction industry has involved commercial projects and claims ranging in value from $15,000 to over $3 billion.
