Associate Professor
Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Dept. Ob/Gyn, Sect. on MFM
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States
My career in medicine began at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ where I completed a combined MD/PhD program. From there I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where I completed by OB/GYN residency and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship. During residency and fellowship, I began to focus on medical education. After graduation, I joined the OB/GYN faculty at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC where I provide the full spectrum of obstetrical care as well as perform and interpret detailed fetal ultrasounds. In addition, since joining Wake Forest School of Medicine my scholarly interest in medical education continued to grow, and I developed a keen interest in simulation and procedural training. I investigated and published studies on the use of simulation in the training of cervical exams, vaginal deliveries, fetal ultrasound, second trimester uterine evacuations, and ultrasound guided invasive procedures. Outside of my home institution, I serve as a member of ACOG’s Simulation Working Group and have served as course faculty or course co-director for several simulation courses held by the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics in Gynecology, and now the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine.
