Dr. Laveena Kondagari is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and the Director of Gynecologic Ultrasound Unit at New York City Health & Hospitals/Jacobi and an Assistant professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She graduated from SV Medical College, India in 2006 and completed a Master of Science (Cell & Molecular Biology) from Missouri State University in 2008. She subsequently completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training from SUNY Downstate, Brooklyn, New York in 2012. She has been working as an attending physician in Obstetrics & Gynecology at New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, Jacobi Medical Center since 2013.
After further training and developing her expertise in gynecologic ultrasound, she established the first and only American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM)-Certified Gynecological Ultrasound Unit in the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation system, at Jacobi Medical Center in 2016 and has been the Director of the Unit.
As an educator, Dr. Kondagari has designed and conducted several teaching programs & lectures institutionally, nationally, and internationally. She designed hands-on workshops on the basics of Gynecological Ultrasound for other Ob-Gyn faculty, Ob-Gyn residents, medical students, physician assistants and midwives. She is actively involved in medical students, resident teaching, and mentoring. She strongly believes that learning ultrasound is essential to optimize clinical management for our complex patients. She aims to improve the quality of gynecological care by bridging the gap between radiology and clinical gynecology.
