Ahmad Ozair, MD, is a postdoctoral research fellow in neuro-oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, Baptist Health South Florida, in Miami, FL. He is a foreign medical graduate who aims to pursue a neurosurgery residency in the United States.
Ahmad was previously a research scholar at the Department of Neurosurgery at King George's Medical University (KGMU), India. He graduated as the first-ranked student in his class of 250 medical students from KGMU, which is one of the top ten nationally ranked medical schools in India. He was one of the five students in the university's history (till 2022) who were all three of the most prestigious honors of the institution: (1) The Hewett gold medal (for the best performance in the core clinical subjects), (2) The Chancellor's medal (for the best performance across all examinations), and (3) University Honors award (for earning the highest number of gold medals and academic honors throughout medical school). He has also recently completed a year-long program from Harvard Medical School Post-Graduate Medical Education. Called the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT, http://hms.harvard.edu/gcsrt), the program aims to develop clinician-scientists.
Ahmad's research has focussed on (1) surgical outcomes, (2) neurological diseases, including neurocritical care, and (3) medical education. His published works span over 60 papers with nearly 1000 citations. He has first-author works in Neurology (the Green Journal), the Journal of Neurosurgery, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, etc. He has also been involved in several international multi-centric studies as a co-investigator/collaborator, such as EUROBACT, SYNAPSE-ICU, GNOS, COVIDPaedsCancer, and GNS-1, amongst others.
Additionally, serving as an invited reviewer for over 50 international journals, Ahmad has long been a 99th percentile all-time peer reviewer worldwide on Publons (Web of Science). Being certified via the INGUIDE Guideline Development Level 1, he has served as a guidelines panel member of 2 joint guidelines of SAGES/AHPBA. He also serves as an editorial board member and social media editor for the Asian Spine Journal.
