I am a Neurosurery resident at the Emory Neurosurgery Residency program in Atlanta, Gerogia. As a resident neurosurgeon I have solidified my interest in neuroplasticity with a focus on restoration of the nervous system in traumatic, oncological and degenerative diseases. So far, I have devoted the bulk of my research work to the translation of cell & gene-based therapeutics for degenerative diseases affecting the spinal cord. I have worked with Dr. Boulis and his Lab at Emory University focusing on the translation of novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, specifically ALS. We have competed preclinical and clinical studies that have optimized delivery of cell & gene-based therapeutics to the nervous system, as well as have broaden our understanding of the immune system response to the delivery of new biotherapies. More recently I have worked with Dr. Au Yong and his Lab at Emory University focusing on the development of innovative therapies for Spinal Cord Injury. Our current research will increase our understanding of spinal cord neuroplasticity following traumatic injury. The intent is to preserve intact and restore damaged neural structures using modulation principles to enhance vascular function and cellular recovery to promote functional restoration. As a physician scientist, I am committed to continue to develop innovative ways to repair the nervous system in various disease states that currently have no cure.
