Cameron graduated from the United States Military (West Point) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in International Law and Comparative Legal Studies. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army. He subsequently went on to successfully serve in a variety of leadership positions ranging from platoon leader to company commander. Upon completing his service obligation, Cameron elected to honorably discharge from active duty in June 2020 at the rank of Captain in order to pursue his dream of becoming a physician. He subsequently completed a career changer postbaccalaureate program before enrolling at Warren Alpert Medical School in August 2021.
At Warren Alpert Medical School, Cameron is actively involved in a broad scope of interest groups and leadership activities. He was elected as a class senator by his peers to represent their interests at the administrative level. Furthermore, he was chosen to co-lead the neurological surgery preclinical elective by neurosurgery residents and previous student leaders. Currently, he is in the process of founding a veteran’s community outreach group to better serve the disabled and disadvantaged veteran population of Providence, RI. His research in medical school thus far has focused on the intersection of social determinants of health and neurological surgery outcomes. His long-term research goal is to identify specific socially driven variables that lead to adverse neurological surgery outcomes and subsequently develop quality improvement mechanisms to correct for them.
