Sanan was born in Toronto, Ontario but grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. He went to the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate education before medical school at the University of South Florida. He started his neurosurgical training at the University of New Mexico, first as an unaccredited pre-residency fellow and then as a resident, before joining the University of Washington in his PGY-2 year. He is now a PGY-6 with subspecialty interest in spine. After graduation he intends on pursing a complex and minimally invasive spine fellowship with Dr. Ali Baaj. His personal interests include playing Ice Hockey and enjoying time with his wife and dog.
