Research Fellow- PhD candidate
Mayo clinic- rochester-mn
Rochester, MN, US
I am a postdoctoral research fellow working at the Mayo Clinic Neuro-Informatics laboratory in the department of Neurological Surgery. I graduated from the Lebanese University (LU) -Faculty of Medical Sciences. My medical training provided me with a broad spectrum of clinical experiences that stimulated my interest in clinical and basic science research, including biomedical advances with the potential to translate into clinical practice. As a medical student, I collaborated with the Department of Neurologic surgery of the LU as a research intern. Subsequently, I served as a Post-Graduate Year (PGY)-1 in Preliminary General Surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), followed by a PGY-2 Neurosurgery residency at the Lebanese American University Medical Center (LAUMC) in Beirut- Lebanon, before pursuing my research fellowship and Ph.D. candidacy to expand my research abilities at the Mayo Clinic, under the mentorship of Dr. Mohamad Bydon. My research interest is based on the dogma of pursuing academia alongside my pursuit to practice medicine to be a neuroscientist. I am looking forward to getting a Ph.D. in Clinical and Translational Sciences (CTS) to strengthen my footing in research academics further.
Currently, I am involved in many clinical and basic science projects, focusing on Surgical outcomes, Spinal Cord Injury, Neuro-Oncology, and the applications of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Research. My mentor, Dr. Mohamad Bydon, and my co-mentor, Dr. Anthony Windebank, head my work. My long-term research goals include becoming an independent clinician-scientist focusing on applying Focused Ultrasound (FUS) to treat brain and spinal cord tumors.
