Dr. Andrew Fanous, MD FAANS, is the section chief of neurological surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, and assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Virginia. He has a special interest in the miniimally invasive surgery of spine disorders and tumors.
Dr. Fanous graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College, where he completed his undergraduate studies in molecular biology, biochemistry and German literature with highest departmental honors. He obtained his Medical Doctorate with a major in surgery from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Fanous completed his residency in neurological surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed his fellowship training in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Fanous is member of many prestigious societies, including the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is fluent in seven different languages.
