Medical Student
Department of Neurological Surgery, Weill Cornell Medicine
Mr. Siegfried "Jason" Adelhoefer is a final-year medical student at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany. He has engaged in a variety of academic pursuits, including research and clinical experiences. During a research elective at Weill Cornell Medicine, Mr. Adelhoefer focused on exploring innovative approaches in neurosurgery, particularly the slalom unilateral laminotomy for bilateral decompression (sULBD) technique with navigation for multi-segmental degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). Under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Roger Hartl, he contributed to outlining key steps of this minimally-invasive procedure.
In addition, Mr. Adelhoefer completed clinical electives in neurological surgery at UCL Queen Square Institute, Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), and the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH). At UCL Queen Square, under the mentorship of Dr. Laurence Watkins and Dr. Ahmed Toma, he conducted research on the characterization of distinct subgroups within longstanding overt ventriculomegaly in adults (LOVA) based on clinical and radiographic characteristics. He has been a scholar of the German Academic Exchange Service, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and is an incoming Schwarzman Scholar for the 2024/25 academic year.
