Dr. Pawel Grabala is vice chair of the Division of Pediatric Orthopedics & Traumatology with Spine Service at University Children’s Hospital-Bialystok (Poland) and Medical University of Bialystok (Poland), the Faculty of Medicine. He is also the attending spine surgeon at Warsaw European Paley Institute.
Dr. Grabala attended the Medical University of Bialystok, The Faculty of Medicine. He completed his residency at Children’s Hospital Olsztyn and Specialized Hospital Olsztyn, followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics, complex spine & scoliosis at the Children’s Hospital Olsztyn and Specialized Hospital Olsztyn. Dr. Grabala attended the several visiting and clinical fellowships focused on spine surgery inter alia in Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital St. Louis, St. Louis Children's Hospital, Nemours Children's Hospital Delaware, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Dr. Grabala defended his doctorate in the field of spinal deformities surgery and the impact on pregnancy, the course of pregnancy and perinatal complications.
Dr. Grabala primarily treats scoliosis and other spinal conditions, such as vertebral fractures. He is focused on early onset scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, neglected and severe spinal deformity in children and adolescents. On the research side, he has been involved in publications among his areas of focus are spine surgery, safety and outcomes of surgical treatment with health-related quality of life.
Dr. Grabala attend the many courses, symposia, and cadaver-labs as faculty, and teaches young surgeon giving their his knowledge and experience.
His professional affiliations include membership in numerous orthopedic & spinal organizations, including the North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society, Polish Society of Spinal Surgery, Eurospine, and Polish Society of Orthopedic Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Grabala enjoys travel, fishing and sport shooting.
