Dia Halalmeh, MD, is a Neurosurgery Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Hurley Medical Center in Michigan. Dr. Halalmeh received his medical degree from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Halalmeh completed a clerkship at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School in the Neurosurgery department and then a fellowship in clinical research at Detroit Medical Center-Wayne State University, producing more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and more than 8 book chapters. Dr. Halalmeh is an active member of the Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons (MANS) and serves on the editorial board and reviewer committees of several Journals in Neurosurgery. Currently, he conducts clinical and translational research in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, tumors of the brain and spine, advanced surgical approaches to the spine, spine infections and their surgical management, and the utility of bone grafts, especially autologous local bone, in spine surgery. Dr. Halalmeh’s research focuses on promoting minimally invasive spine techniques that optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Halalmeh's scientific work includes the characterization of rare CNS tumors and establishing predictors of postoperative outcomes and prognosis of these tumors. As a prolific author, Dr. Halalmeh is currently editing and authoring a book on the neurosurgical management of osteomyelitis and discitis of the spine.
