Lauren Kane, MD, is an Associate Professor, Congential Heart Surgeon and President of the Women in Thoracic Surgery. She trained at the University of Southwestern Dallas general surgery, adult cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University and congenital heart surgery at the University of Southern California, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. She holds board certification with the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery, American Board of Thoracic Surgery in Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery. She is currently the chair of the Society of Thoracic Surgery Patient Education Taskforce, on the Board of the Thoracic Surgical Foundation, and on the Editorial Board of Thoracic Surgical Education. She is an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and serves on many workforces, taskforce and committees. She is passionate about mentoring and sponsorship of trainees, students and other cardiac, thoracic and congenital heart surgery. She is dedicated to the care of the patients and families and providing the best possible care at all times.
