Dr. Brian Gastman MD is Professor of surgery and Vice Chairman of the Plastic Surgery department at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is also the surgical and co-Director of the Cleveland Clinic melanoma and high risk skin cancer program. His clinical specialty includes the comprehensive treatment of skin and head and neck cancer. Additionally he is the director for clinical trials for the Taussig Cancer Center melanoma and high risk skin cancer program. He currently is the PI on numerous investigator initiated, cooperative group and industry funded trials including a number of phase III protocols. Academically, Dr. Gastman has an extramurally funded basic science lab from both federal and industry sources. His research focuses mostly on tumor immune evasion and chemotherapy resistance. His work has led to hundreds of peer reviewed publications, book chapters and national presentations.
