James Sun earned his undergraduate degree in music and violin performance from Stony Brook University and attended SUNY Downstate Medical School. He graduated with his medical degree in 2016 and started residency in general surgery at Downstate. He went on to complete a research fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center with a focus on cutaneous oncology and breast cancer. He came to UH in 2018 to complete his general surgery residency. He will continue his training in Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center after graduation. Dr Sun is an accomplished researcher who has published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He has presented at national and international conferences with several awards from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and World Congress of Surgery.
