Dr. Mongiu is a board-certified General and Colorectal surgeon at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She received her MD & PhD (in Cell & Molecular Biology) from Northwestern University. She went on to complete her general surgery training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in Boston and her fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the University of Louisville. Her clinical interests are focused on colorectal oncology and the surgical management of IBD, pelvic floor and anorectal disorders. Her research interests focus on improving patient quality of life after rectal cancer treatment via understanding pathways of neuropathy and low anterior resection syndrome.
